Show TI1E WORD FROM BOULDER By Nethella Woolscjr We women were sure that we were getting our Red Cross nurse training Just in the nick of time when wo heard that Lorena Hall's children had scarlet fever. Wo .envisioned a community epidemic with all sixteen of us fledgling nurses practicing our newly acquired tech niques. The Hail children, however, have recovered, and their parents are a bit skeptical of the Salt Lake doctor's diagnosis. So far there have been no other cases. Wo nurses, however, have our fingers crossed and cur thermomet- (continued on back page) BOULDER crs ready. We thought it a little inconsiderate of Lcona Lyman to sprain her ankle last Thursday before we'd had the lesson on bandaging. Most of us, though, arc getting a little practice on our husbands and children with their colds and influenza. Mrs Shauna Golding, county nurse, will conduct four more les sons on Tuesday and Wednesday to complete the course. Mrs. Neta Poulsen is in Salt Lake to welcome her newest grandchild, a daughter born to Mr. and Mrs. (Sherry Lee) Donald Morgan. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Le-Fevre, who were married on November 23, visited over the weekend with Michael's par-ents, the Mac LcFevres. Some friends from Salt Lake were with them. Mr. and Mrs. Farlane Be-hunin were home for the weekend from his work in Arizona. LcFair Hall and Neil Jcpscn were home Saturday and Sunday from Glen Canyon. Mrs. Cecil Grlener and daughter Mrs. Alan Worthen made a trip to Pangultch Mon-day. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Haws went to Mt. Camel Monday to attend the funeral forBlrt and Mina Gardner. Several of us attended the funeral for Hosie Roundy at Escalante on the same day. Clyde and Irene King arc in Phoenix looking after their apartment house interests. Clyde is going to be unhappy when he hears that his young race mare was seriously cut by being caught in the cattle-guard. The Kings will attend tho state cattlemen's association convention at Salt Lake on Friday and Saturday. We are hoping for favorable weather on December 17 when members of the county commission and others including Senator-elect Vernon Hoi-man and your House representative are to make a trip to Hite to meet with San Juan county officials to discuss prospects of a good road linking our two counties. It is assumed that the road would extend from tho Colorado River through the Henry's and Circle Cliffs to Boulder and on to Escalante. A state highway (not surfaced) now joins Blanding and Hite and goes north to Hanksville, Travelers now cross the river by ferry. San Juan people would like to see a bridge north of the future Lake Powell, and they would like to have a good road built westward to join Highway 89 south of Panguitch. |
