IL-W'- Early in the school year through the- efforts of John Blevins and the junior high school Patrol five Safety Sallies were secured for use of the patrol to caution . people in safety priving near the school area. These devices look like a child in the middle of the street. On three occasions these metal devices have been run over by some careless automobile driver. It could just as well have been a child. If drivers are so careless as to maliciously run over a safety device he would very likely run over a child. ,We are sure that those who contributed money to buy the Safety beSallies are hind the project of making the streets around the school safe for children. It seems to us at school that careless drivers ought to , be punished for they are a menace to the public. No safety program is of any service if the public will not cooperate but generously a few only, spoil such a project. We shall do all in our power to protect children who come to school. It is no small job for over one thousand children are in attendance at school in Dragerton each day. If we can apprehend the drivers who ran over these safety devices we shall take appropriate-action against, them. After a trial at fifteen cents per lunch "in the school cafeteria we are advised by the county lunch supervisor to go back to the original price of twenty cents or '$1.00 per week beginning Monday April 3. This smaller price was tried in seven schools throughout the state but no data is available at present as to the success of the lower price. Miss Myrtle Davis is back at her teaching 'post at the school after a week at home because of a fall which injured her. The junior high school at East Carbon is scheduling an Easter Parade Dance for April 7 in the school gym. - The second evening class this year in machine shop will begin Thursday, April 6, at 7:00 p.m. at the Carbon college shop. Registration will be held at that time and the class will be held Tuesday and Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and will run approximately three months. M. A. Roberts will be the instructor. Tuition for the course is $12.50 and veterans with a Certificate of Eligibility may attend on the GI bill. The class is mainly designed to help those who would like to get into the trade to prepare themselves to better qualify for the job when the opportunity arises to obtain an apprenticeship in a ma- -' chine shop. Individuals who have special projects in mind may complete them for their own use as long as the projects are in line with the machine shop course. The course will also help machine shop apprentices and helpers to develop competence in the trade. Students may select the phase of work they desire and spend their time, with individual instruction, to master various skills. Selection may include shaper work, gear cutting, general lathe work, precision grinding, general milling machine work, etc. t'JtU'H 50 School News Welding Class To Start Machine Shop Class April 6 Carbon College To Be Held Thursday The third evening class in Night Carbon College Election Of Officers To Be Held At Mooso Lodge Friday 4,-49- whole-hearted- ly - I- ' youll be proud to show off your new GEMEX watch bracelet Try on on of our (JT., Gemex watch bracelets today.
