Show OBITUARY NOTES HEBER 0 KIMBALL CITY utah attah may 24 1897 died at kanosh millard county at 16 in may 20 1897 heber C the son of ah the late A A and his wife mary eliza kimball born november 12 1879 this young mau man contracted a cold which pro dueer a gathering upon his hia neck resulting in general gendral debility but owing to his big cheerful and uncomplaining disposition it was thought that nature would right itself and ail would go well but bat the sudden passing away as in a sleep created a profound sensa sensation tiong and sorrow especially among the young people of the ward mod hebe Heb as he was affectionately ailed oal led was a splendid specimen of youth upon whom much promise centered cantered witty and wise wine in jovial companionship panion ship without the appetite for strong drink or tobacco which so frequently mar the pleasant rounds of youthful associations he natu raMy became a leader and a lever among his immediate associates his late grandmother thought bought that heber could do no wrong and being the oldest boy at home the be family respected his counsels and his call to a higher work has beat their loving hopes down in the dust the funeral service brother thomas Charle 0 C SAXES JAMES WOODS james woods departed this life may 41 4 1897 at his home in erda goosle tooele county very suddenly having worked in his garden all morning came in at noon ate his dinner immediately after complained of a pain in the direction of the heart and after suffering for two hours and a half quietly passed away funeral services were held in the tooele thoele meeting house on mayeth may ath consoling remarks were offered bp president H S glowas bishop bates baies and others of his immediate acquaintance all testifying to his integrity to the truth and willingness to do whatever was required of him he was the son of james and harriet woods was born at chowham chobham surrey england september 18 1839 was bap tiled into the church of jesus christ of latter latier day saints when auve a boy afterwards moved to london where he resided some two and a half years and became deeply interested in the spread of the gospel emigrated to utah in 1859 in company with his sister the late mrs C E dye he first obtained employment in salt lake city with the late elder william C Si Sl aines taking charge of his hia business while he was waa engaged filling a mission to england in 1862 he was one of a company of twenty five sent at the request of the government under gen robert T burton to 10 laramie to protect the mall mail service against indian depredations in 1864 he made a home in the ninth ward salt lake city where he resided until 1883 when he moved to his farm home in erda tooele thoele county which he beautified by his hia labor add direction he was clerk of the ward where he lived and one ot of the presidents of the forty third quorum ot of seventy at a meeting held by the members of his him quorum the sunday previous to his death g he was chosen as one suitable to go on a mission in 1890 he was called and set not apart as sunday school superintendent of erds erda ward the duties of which he took the greatest of pleasure in performing up to the time of his death he was also superintendent of the religion class of the ward his remains were followed to the graveyard by a large co concourse n of friends and by the sunday school in a body he leaves a 9 large family and a great many friends who mourn the loss lose of his society cox COM DAVID CANFIELD died at hamblin utah may david canfield he was born M may 9 in gorham ontario county new york rejoined he joined the church in toronto canada and was baptized in 1843 by parley P pratt went to 10 nauvoo in 1845 und ind helped to finish up the temple as far as it was completed came to utah in 1850 settled in provo was in the indian war there was called on the dixie mission in 1861 and first settled is at st george was a willing worker and a true latter day saint he was the lather father of ten children had forty two grandchildren and one great grand child his last illness offous of four weeks was waff severe but he bore hip hia suffering patiently and has gone to test teat leaving a record of a man who nevor failed to respond to the call ot of gods servants and who was waa ever true to the trust reposed in him may his children do as well COM COIL ALANSON WILLIAMS died at oceanside long island N Y may 12 1897 alanson williams soper in his year of consumption he was the son of william B R soper and mary eliza brower both of old and well known long island families the funeral service were held at the home of the deceased may 16 b and conducted by elders watts burton and hanks from the brooklyn office about two hundred relatives and friends assembled last jast april he became a member of the church ot of jesus christ of latter day saints and his closing days day were brightened by the expectation of a joyful res rem ur he leaves a most moat estimable wife and three young children SARAH ANN CORNFORD BRIGHAM CITY utah may 15 1897 died at niagara falle falk april 80 1897 while on her way to zion sister sarah ann ana cornford late of kent england deceased was born at harting Hartin gr kent england dee dec 15 1885 as aa baptized and confirmed by hider edward sept 1 1860 and since benoe that ti time we has baa been a faithful latter day saint and died as one she and her husband who is not a member of the church kept open house for the elders many years and hundreds of elders throughout utah idaho and arizona will testify to her many acts ot of kindness unto them she followed the counsels of the elders and as fast as an means could be saved she sent her children out to zion until lour four had preceded her and they together with the assistance of elders S W winter of salt lake city heber smith of brigham aith and wm corbridge of minersville Miners ville raised money for the emigration of the parents and one more daughter leaving three yet in england two daughters and one son they left glasgow april 8 1897 via the steamship steam hi cir casla casia ca sla of the anchor line and did dig not nob arrive in now new york until april owing to the breaking of some of the machinery and head winds which troubled them considerably slater sister cornford took sick the night before they landed in now new york and continued to get weaker so that the family were detained at ai niagara palls falls on april and she breathed her last on friday april 80 30 1897 surrounded by her lovin loving g hi osband and daughter alter her deth her body was prepared lor for shipment ship meat to utah and they arrived at brigham city Box boxelder Bo zelder elder county may ath it ii was a great disappointment disep to her children and grandchildren here who had been rejoicing that they were soon to be united after so many years of saps separation on thursday may ath funeral services were held in the third ward meeting house bishop A A jensen presiding elder S N cook of willard who had partaken partaker par taken of their kind hospitality in england bore a strong testimony in regard gar d to sister Corn fords faithfulness and good works elder eider thomas IL H blackburn and williana william L watkins stake counselor and bishop A A jensen all made comforting and consoling remarks after which be abe remains were interred in
