Show t WEEKLY REFLEX-DAV- NEWS JOURNAL, MAY 5, 1977 IS Air Force Awards 50 Contracts h)D IBapdl 1Ff Ball Requests from municipal governments and private citizens involving Davis School District property at four school sites came under consideration at the meeting of the school board on Tuesday. Two of the problems were resolved and two others tabled for further consideration. A REQUEST for removal of road fill material at the Mueller Park School site at 1800 South and Mueller Park Road in Boantiful and a request to build ball parks on a school site owned by the district at 2050 South 1350 East, also in Bountiful were made by Bountiful City Engineer Jack Balling. The other two requests, presented by DeWayne Jay, director of buildings and grounds for the district, involved the districts participation in closing a ditch across from the E.G. King Elementary School on Rainbow Drive in Layton and in dealing with developers on an access road issue at the Meadowbrook School at assistant superintendent, agreed that the basic idea is good, but the problems of whos paying for what is the issue. Supt. Bernell Wrigley said, in other similar arrangements, the district has provided the land only. Other development has been paid for by those seeking thp use of the site. THE BOARD was not sure of the cost of the pipe and the seed and instructed Mr. Jay to further investigate before the next meeting, when they agreed to take action. In the matter of participating in closing an open ditch across the street from the King Elementary School in Layton, the board voted tentative approval. They instructed Mr. Jay to work out a contract with Layton, East Layton, and other participants in the project. request that Bountiful City be allowed to remove fill material for Boulevard Davis Construction, Mr. Balling pointed out the agreement would be mutually beneficial to both parties. He said the city would work out a topographic plan to present to the district, showing how the area could be cut down to the street grade at that location. School officials and the board responded favorably to the suggestion. Morris Hansen, board member, said the district might have to spend as much as $90,000 in hauling the material away. Mr. Jay said that good contour mapping would be the key to the project. IN MAKING the CONSTRUCTION plans call for the present ditch to be built under the road, eliminating a hazard to children at the school. In meetings with city officials Mr. Jay said the school board contribution to the cost had been set at $2,500. Construction costs for the 1200 foot of ditch would normally be $42 a foot, but costs here had been cut to $6 a foot Mr. Jay said. In the matter of whether to allow an access road to enter the present site of the Meadowbrook School in Bountiful from Fourth North, the board assigned the administration to meet with developers for further study. DR. WHITE said the matter involved a trade-of- f with developers. If the road goes through, they will agree to build low density housing. Otherwise the development may be in high density building, creating a heavy traffic flow in the area. Mr. Hansen and Sheryl Allen,' board members, suggested that the administration suggest another road pattern which would not divide the school site. If this is not possible the access road will be allowed, rk BOUNTIFUL will need from 180,000 to yards of material to complete the Davis Boulevard Crossing at Mill Creek, Mr. Balling said, but not all fill material can be removed from t(ie Mueller School site. The board agreed on the proposal subject to a typographic plan and map being drawn and approved by buildings and grounds. They will also require that the top soil be removed and the area be after the fill is removed. In the matter of building two ball parks on a school site at 2050 South and 1350 East near Maple Hills, the board decided to table the matter for further study. 200,000 MR.
