Show WEEKLY REFLEX-DAV- IS NEWS JOURNAL, MAY 5, 1977 'Roman Holidays At Layton High By MARK PETERSEN LAYTON HIGH SCHOOL The Studentbody Officers of Layton High School are preparing with excitement for the biggest annual year-enevent, "Roman Holidays, d May 9- - 15. THIS IS a time Layton High salutes the Roman Lancer, their mascot. It is the last major event of the year. It also taps the last dance, and for the senior, the last chance to attend and participate in activities as a member of Layton High School. Monday, May 9, beginning at 3 p.m. will start things off as Lancers find an action-packe- d game of powder puff football taking place down at the coliseum (football field). The teams will consist of girls rearing for a win. This is an event that will not want to be missed. "GRAFFITTI sponsored Fonsie will be DAY Tuesday, and Pinkie contests. A with look-a-lik- e graffitti dance will be hosted in the evening from 6 to 9 p.m. in the gym. Everyone should come dressed Graffitti style. Wednesday, the 4th annual "Songfest will be held, with competition from each club. It will begin at 7 p.m. in the Lancer auditorium. THE ROMAN Holiday "Olympics will also begin Wednesday at 4 p.m. and go through Thursday evening. Some of the activities are: orange relays, obstacle course, balloon popping, obstacle walk, sleeping bag race, and the egg race. A good example of these events is shown through the obstacle course. One person from each club will be entered. The winner will be determined by the best time. They will start by doing five math problems at a desk. They will then go under the goal post in which an apple is of hanging and take one bite the apple and then go on. Next they will jump over two hurdles, then get into a wheelbarrow and one team member will push them 25 yards. After the wheelbarrow they will skip rope 50 times, run through tires, and jump over a high jump. AFTER the high jumping they will then go under the other goal post and pop a hanging water balloon, then cross a tape for the finish. This is only an example of the exciting events for the Roman Holidays Olympics! An movie will be presented Thursday afternoon at p.m. The n-packed is movie Poseidon Adventure, and will be showm free of charge. FRIDAY, the Studentbody Officers will present the Roman Holidays Assembly. The new studentbody officers will be honored at the assembly. In the afternoon a gala carnival will be sponsored. 1 h actio- Games, prizes, and lots of fun will be featured. An outdoor concert will be hosted from field. to 3 5 out on the football Nasque, a popular rock band will provide music and entertainment. Everyone is free invited of charge. Fireworks will be displayed in the evening beginning at 9 p.m. Roman THE ANNUAL Holidays Dance will end the festive week with a climactic touch. Highlighted will be the years theme of Tradition, the Lancer Way of Life. The cost is only $2 per couple and is Honey and Soul will furnish the music, and flowers are in order. The Studentbody Officers have planned this week for the Lancer studentbody, and urge all Lancers to support this final year-enactivity.
