Show Girl . Scouts Honor Birthday On the afternoon of Oct . 3 1 . over 200 girls from girl scout groups gathered at the Bountiful Bounti-ful Ice Skating arena to celebrate cele-brate the birthday of their founder. Juliette Gordon Lowe, affectionately known as "Daisy." MRS. LOWE brought girl scouting to the U.S. in 1912. This early organization was a branch of the Girl Guides founded in England in 1910 by Robert and Olave Baden-Powell Baden-Powell after BP'S boy scount-ing scount-ing movement had proved such a success. The original aims and purposes of both organization was to build character, fitness and citizenship citizen-ship while having fun are still sought after to this day. The girl . scouts in the south Davis area celebrated Daisy's birthday in a fitting manner as they capped off the rigorous skating activity with punch and cookies decorated by the senior troop. Jacque Neilson and her neighborhood staff organized the event. |
