LaFollette officially launched, Thursday night, a new National Progressive party with a program which he said is intending to save America from a trend toward dic-1 dic-1 tatorship by increasing the national na-tional wealth. 1 He announced his decision to 5000 wildly chering followers in the University of Wisconsin stock pavilion with another ' 2000 gathered gath-ered around outside. He said that the actual work of organizing the party would begin on Friday in Des Moines. The Wisconsin executive, his hair disheveled and his face moist with perspiration during a two-hour speech declared that a '"black plague is destroying the faith of Americans through failure to solve their economic problems and that it is the intention of the Progressives no matter how long the fights to turn the tide the other way. Senator King commenting on the move said, "There is no reason rea-son for a third party unless one wants to go clear over to Socialism Social-ism or Communism. I believe ours is a two-party system of government.' |
