Show PLANS READIED FOR HONORING TJL MCMULLEN A banquet and program honoring hon-oring the 25th anniversary of T. H. (Tommy) McMullin as basket-, basket-, ball coach, teacher and civic leader will be held Thursday, : March 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the Bingham Bing-ham high school. Tommy came to Bingham in 1921, after his graduation from Utah Agricultural college, as coach- His first team in the season sea-son of 1922 copped the Jordan I district title and entered the tournament and for eleven consecutive con-secutive years the Blue and White of Bingham was an entry : at the colorful tourney. For three years previous to Tommy's arri-. arri-. val Bingham high had also en-! en-! tered the state meet, making a total of fourteen consecutive years. In 1930 Tommy was appointed principal of Bingham high school and has served in that capacity to the present time. For six years he doubled as coach and principal. prin-cipal. Many of the outstanding play- I ers in the state were developed I by Mr. McMullin, including L. : E. Stillman, Adolph Chiara, Al-vin Al-vin Hall, Steve Vlasic, Ted Brady Bra-dy and Walter Bolic He served on the Town Board ! of Bingham during 1928 to 1931 and has been a civic leader in j many projects in the district. He is also a veteran of World War I. Many of his former athletes, student- and friends will be on I hand to honor Tommy on his I 25th year in Bingham Canyon. ! Among some of the speakers to be at the banquet will be Gov. Herbert B. Maw, E. L. Romney, coach at Logan; Sterling Harris, superintendent of Tooele county j schools and Arthur E- Peterson, ; superintendent of Jordan school district. |
