Show FOOL'S GOLD CAN BE TURNED INTO PROFIT FROM LUMP COAl. Chicago, Oct. 2 The yellow, glistening glis-tening metal so common in lumps of coal, known as "fool's gold," may be turned into real gold, according ac-cording to a statement made public pub-lic today by Joseph E. Pogue, state geologist. He asserts that the "fool's gold" or pyrite, is rich in sulphur, a substance used in large quantities for explosives and other war purposes. He urges the mine owners of the state to turn this supposedly waste product into a handsome profit. In doing so, he says, the coal industry " will not only gain, but will render a distinct service to the country at -large,; which is badly in need of domestic do-mestic supplies of pyrite. Ex. a I |
