During this time he was working J as an insurance agent for New York Life Insurance Co. After completion of the chapel at Trona, they moved to Whittier, California where Thell went to work for TRW Systems and Addie was em -ployed as a library clerk for the El Monte School District. They were both active in the V Whittier 2nd Ward and Addie served as a member of the Whittier Stake MIA Board. They both retired in 1975-76 1975-76 and are now living in West Bountiful, Utah, near their son Chad. They have four sons: Othello, Jr., co-owner of the Argus Supermarket, Trona, Calif.; Dr. G. Austin Smith, surgeon and chief of staff at J Washington Hospital, Fremont, Fre-mont, Calif.; Pauldin L. Smith, manager, Special Vehicles Ve-hicles Re-entry SystemsDi-vision, SystemsDi-vision, Aerospace Corporation, Corpora-tion, Diamond Bar, Calif.; and Chadwick E.Smith, man- , ager Bailey's Van&Storage, Salt Lake. Chad served a three -year mission in Hong Kong and is at present 1st ' counselor in the West Bountiful Boun-tiful 4th Ward Bishopric. They welcome all their friends and relatives to the reception to help them celebrate, cele-brate, from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m., July 9th. Program at 8:30, and there will be dancing. Othello H. and Addie Carter Cart-er Smith will return to Min-ersville, Min-ersville, Utah, where they were born and raised, to celebrate their Fiftieth Wedding Wed-ding Anniversary. On July 9th their four sons, Othello, Jr., Austin, Pauldin ' and Chadwick, plan a reception recep-tion in their honor, to be held in the Minersville Ward Cultural Hall. All their friends and relatives are invited to attend the reception, recep-tion, program and dance. Othello "Thell" and Addie graduated from the Miners -ville High School. "Thell" was a forward on the famous Minersville High School basketball bas-ketball team that won the State Championship and went to Chicago. Thell won the Sportsmanship Trophy. After they were married in 1927, Thell went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad. Rail-road. They lived in Miners -ville and Milford until 1932 when they went to Los Ange -les for four years. In 1936 they moved to Trona, Calif, where Thell worked as a painter foreman for American Ameri-can Potash and Chemical Company. Thell was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1937 and their marriage mar-riage was solemnized in the Mesa Arizona Temple. They helped organize a branch of the church in Trona under the direction of President Presi-dent Elijah Allen, President of the California mission. Thell served as branch clerk, branch president and then was called as counselor in the Mojave Desert District Presidency. He later served as District President for ten years. Addie served as Relief Society District President during these ten years and later was called to the California Cal-ifornia Mission Relief Society So-ciety Board serving under President Henry D. Taylor and his wife. When the Dis -trlct was organized into a Stake, Thell served as a High Counselman in the new Mojave Stake. He was called again as Branch President at Trona where he presided |
