Show Rome Celebrates 2676th Birthday Rome.- The celebration Saturday of Homes 207Gth birthday was per. haps the most solemn in the long history of the eternal city. Premier Mussolini promulgated a decree established es-tablished April 21, as Laborday instead in-stead of May 1, and thus the traditional tradi-tional date of the city's foundation becomes a national holiday. A feature fea-ture of the ceremony was the administration admin-istration of the Fascisti oath to the national militia. In this city the premier pre-mier hmself reviewed the phalanxes. The troops marched along the areh-eological areh-eological promenade passing the colesseum, the Roma forum, the arch of Constantino and the Appian way. A tribune had been erected for members mem-bers of the diplomatic corps at a vantage point on the way in which Ambassador Child and his wife had reserved places. When Premier Mussolini appeared, the mlita saluted sa-luted by extending their right arms in the ancient Rome fashion and of absolute loyalty to the nation and to the iron discipline of fascism. Tho oath was dictated by the commander of the Roman legion, who was stationed sta-tioned in a captive balloon. |
