Show DECLARES THIS IS WAR FOR LABOR T F the war belongs to any class at -L all, it is labor's war," says Crawford Craw-ford Vaughan, former premier of South Australia and labor leader. "Only self seeking agitators," he asserted, "called it a war of capitalists." He predicted pre-dicted that labor would gain more from victory for democracy than any other element. "The war," he said, "is bound to build up a bond of sympathy between the employer and the employe. They are fighting side by side ; they are making mak-ing the.great sacrifice for victory. If this war does not enlarge the. mind of man, then there is something wrong with man. Labor should understand that a cessation of work in any of the industries vital to war means the loss of life of their sons, labor's sons, in the war, of toilers not only in the American army, but in the armies of France and Belgium." Mr. Vaughan discussed the I. W. W. as they exist in Australia, and he said harsh measures of suppression had been adopted there to safeguard trade unionism." |
