Show N ADA NOTES ! A large crowd gathered at the train Wednesday to bid good-bye to our boys who went to Camp Lewis. They were Ben H. Matteson and John Wade. As neither one put in a chum for exemption, they were practically volunteers. Both were very well liked by all and will be greatly missed. The greatest tribute! we can pay them is to be worthy of the protection they offer their lives to give. A farewell party was given in their ljonor by their many friends Saturday evening at the Culmsee home. School opened October 2d, with Mrs. B. C. Stones in charge and an enrollment of seventeen pupils. The books arrived Thursday and school work is progressing smoothly. j Miss Marguerite Furlong, who recently re-cently came from Pomona, California, Califor-nia, is the efficient teacher at Thermo school, and Miss Benson is training the young second line of defense at Latimer. It is certainly inspiring to see the interested pupils on their way to the different schools, and doubly appreciated as the schools were closed last year. |
