Show LUIS ; Gpollcro top in county Milford High Spellers walked away with the traveling trav-eling trophy at the District Spelling Bee at Belknap Elementary Ele-mentary last Thursday. It 1 was a superb win for the five top spellers from the seventh and eighth grades at MHS, who racked up 90 points. Belknap took second andMi-nersville, andMi-nersville, third. There were five teams from the county schools competing, after the top five spellers from each had been chosen in spelldowns In their own schools. Scott Sullivan took first place by spelling 'umbilical' and 'survellance' after all other spellers had missed once. Lisa Albrecht, of Minersvllle was second, and Suzanne Morris, Milford, took third. A 11 three received receiv-ed individual trophies. The contest began with the contestants spelling from a list they had studied, and few contestants missed until un-til they started spelling from a cold list they hadn't seen. Then the going got rough. Sullivan's first place win qualifies him for the state spelling meet In April. Others on the MHS team were Suzanne Morris, Aaron Mayer, Ramie Stewart and Stephanie Small. , |
