Sawyer, who was some seven weeks ago sent ( to the state penitentiary for a term,! its duration to lie determined in ac-. cordance with the terms of the new Statute regulating such matters, ar- j rived home, having ween granted clemency by the State oard of Par-dona, Par-dona, partially on acocunt of his ex-, cellent. conduct and partinlly becauuse ' of the deluge of letters from friends rere, who imoertuned the Board in his behalf. It is needless to say that Mr. Sawyer is delighted to feel himself a free man again, though he nothing but words of kindness and appreciation for Warden Storrs and his assistants. "They are fine people, and I never was treated better in my lire," is a sample of the expressions he gives voice to. Mr. Sawyer has ben busy since his return personally thanking the many friends who interceded with the Board of Pardons in his behalf. Mrs. Sawyer Saw-yer has been nearly prostrated, and is greatly relieved by the furtunate termination of a painful affair. |
