O'-- CHILD'S HEALTH CONFERENCE. o A very important result of the medical inspection of school children is the discovery of unsuspected defects in sight or hearing which are the causes of mental deficiency, disobedience, bad behavior, truancy and other manifestations of mental abnormal ties, so the work done in a childs health conference will be of even more benefit as it reaches the children before any permanent barm is done. It the child be left the prey of measles, scarlet fever, neglected rheumatic fever, malnutrition or dental decay, the results in adolescence and adult life are certain and inevitable, namely, tuberculosis, nephritis, anemia and debility or an early loss of teeth. The law of cause and effect operates universally and with perdslon. We obtain much of the disease and premature death, which occurs between the ages of first h eighteen and forty-eigh- t, cause we neglect to deal with the origin of disease in childhood, and secondly, because we fall in that period to sow the seeds of hygiene and healthy living. The essential elements of health are fresh air, exercise, warmth, cleanliness and good habits. Thus, childhood is the time for prevention of disease, nipping It in the bud, as well as for a sound education in a healthy way of life.
