However, on this particular Wednesday, more students than normal lined the hall next to the kitchen to eat the school lunch. This was the day before Thanksgiving and Marsac. along with Park City High School, was offering a turkey feast. Students at both schools indulged in nearly 300 pounds of turkey for a preThanksgiving celebration. At this lime, school lunch was a fairly new option at Marsac. In February of 1948. the Board of Education approved the transfer of the seventh and eighth grades from the Marsac School lo the Park City High School. These vacated rooms at the Marsac were then converted into a kitchen and a lunchroom. According lo 'Ilie Park Record, the offering of school lunch gave the Park City school system "as fine a school program as can be found anywhere in the slate." The Marsac School (inset) opened on Nov. 16. 1936 after eisiht months of construction. The school, which was to combine students from the three presidential schools, was built under a WPA project headed by Paul I. Poulsen. a Salt Lake City contractor. The building, which cost S10S.OO0 to build, had modern features such as a heating system control led by thermostats, an air-conditioning system, and an automatic bell system controlled by a master clock. It was constructed of fireproof brick and had 24 rooms. two of which formed an assembly hall/gymnasium. Acoustic plaster and battleship linoleum PERSIAN RUGS: Embargoes Just Lifted After 15 Years! made the building's ramps and halls virtually noiseless. Students in the first through eighth grades attended the school, which opened with IN teachers and approximately 750 students. Students attended the Marsac School until I 9N0. when the student population had grown too big for the building to handle. Students were moved lo a new school on the outskirts of town. Today the Marsac building is the home of City Hall, the Park City Police Department and KPCW. Reginald C. "Reg"Tadd. age 87. passed away Thursday.
