Show Sat/Sun/Mon/Tues, March 2-4, 2005 SUMMIT JOOK A-13 The Park Record city rK TM Three unique resorts in one exciting town. Chamber of Commerce Convention & Visitors Bureau Letter From Professional Services the President Tradeshow Scheduled at The Yarrow Hotel Dear Chamber Members, As many of you probably noticed, Park City experienced a fantastic President's week holiday, with overnight visitation topping out at over 100,000 nights for the third time this year. So far our winter season is looking to be a strong one as we are slightly ahead of last year in terms of year to date overnight visitation numbers.. We are looking forward to a strong month of March and perhaps a challenging April as Easter falls early in the calendar. In the meantime, summer is right around the corner, and plans are currently being developed for several events in addition to hosting some significant sized groups. Our Summer Vacation Planner has been completed and is being distributed to past summer guests while ads enticing travelers to experience Park City in the summer will soon be appearing in several regional and national lifestyle, epicurean, travel and in-flight publications. Finally, the Chamber recently conducted a direct mail campaign to 21,392 skiers and snowboarders in Oregon and Washington encouraging them to visit Park City where snow is abundant. Given that many resorts in the Pacific Northwest have had to close or remain open with limited terrain and several direct flights available to Salt Lake City from thal_region, there is plenty of incentive for winter sports enthusiasts to head here. I hope everyone enjoys what looks to be an especially busy March. Sincerely, Monty Coates The Chamber/Bureau will host a d'oeuvres for tradeshow/mixer attendees. The North American Snowsports Journalists Association's western division held their annual gathering in Park City Feb. 6 to 8. The group, consisting of roughly 30 journalists, took full advantage of the opportunity to experience some of Park City's finest powder skiing this season, as well as other offerings such as Deer Valley's renowned Seafood Buffet. The group also benefited from mountain tours at the ski areas. The Chamber's communications department, Mark Bennett and Hilary Reitcr, welcomed the group on Super Bowl Sunday by hosting a dinner at the Utah Olympic Park, showing the Super Bowl on a giant screen. This was a great way to reconnect and forge new relationships with this group of ski and travel writers. The Chamber/Bureau held its 2nd Annual Economic Forecast Luncheon on Feb. 2 with 170 guests in attendance. Business leaders who spoke and forecasted for 2005 included: John Rogers (Park City Area Lodging Association), Nathan Rafferty (Ski Utah), Tom Bakaly (Park City Municipal Corporation), Dave Allen (Summit County), Andrew Volkman (Frontier Bank), Mike Sloan (Park City Board of Realtors) and Amy Norgate (Tanger Outlet Center). The forecast continues to be rosy for a wide cross section of industries in our town.
