For TV. it's lhe Emmys. For music, it's the Grammies. But for the Park City Education Foundation, it's all about the Nancys. Every year, the foundation gives out Nancy DcFord Education Initiative Grants (named after the former district superintendent) to teachers who find "creative, innovative ways to deliver curriculum to a wide range of kids," said Lynn Heinlein, PCEF executive director. The seven Nancys, worth $21,000 total, are awarded every year at the halfway point in the school year. Another batch is awarded at the end of the year. At Treasure Mountain Middle School, PE teacher Chuck Torrey received a Nancy for equipment in the school's "Fitness Room," such as medicine balls. "PE is generally switching to more lifetime fitness versus the teams sports," Torrey said, although students still do team sports.
