Show dick wins first place money in TOD bug derby climaxing a day of activities at tooele thoele ordnance depot and the end of the tooele thoele bug derby dick 14 was given 50 first prize for winning the event with his little blue and gold racer sponsored by belvins at the TOD track last friday dick is the son of mr and mrs wallace of this city he negotiated the course in seconds barely nosing out jerry dunn who came in second just ahead of third place david 10 lo second and third prizes were 25 and 15 wayne olsen was awarded 10 for having the best designed bug and the same amount was given ghen martin jones for the best brake don jensen best steering ism and each of the 21 contestants received a certificate of mer it signed by lt col leo 11 II heintz commander of the ordnance depot kenneth groscost gary bennett and keith scott were awarded consolation prizes during boys day the boys elected to fill the various positions at TOD were taken on a tour of the installation given a lunch at the post then a banquet at the of acers club each boy was instructed in m the duties of the post he had assumed by the officer whose place he was taking the was the first celebration of its ts kind to be held in tooele thoele coun ty and the cooperation of the ord nance depot tooele thoele jaycees a and nd especially col heintz were the fac tors contributing to its success the derby was followed by 41 rounds of boxing at the ordnance i depot area in building col coi heintz made the statement that he hoped this would grow to be an annual affair and that his sue suc cessor would carry on the plan he began |
