Show CENTENNIAL SEEKS YOUNG UTAH BEAUTY FOR QUEEN National, state, and local honors, hon-ors, unprecedented in the history of any Utah miss, awaits some pulchritudinous and talented young lady of the state. "They will go to the fortunate girl who wins the title of Centennial Queen," It I has just been announced by David R. Trevithick, public relations director di-rector of the State Centennial Commtsison. The search for the queen was declared open this week, and the queen will be selected about Nov. 15, the exact date to be announced later by Mr. Trevithick. Coronation Corona-tion ceremonies will be held some State finalists will include one contestant from each county with less than 50,000 population. In larger counties there will be one finalist for every 50,000 population, popula-tion, or percentage thereof. That means two from Utah county, two from Weber county, and four from Salt Lake county. Eligibility rules are: 1) Must be a descendant of a Utah pioneer of before May 10, 1869. 2) Be available for appearances throughout the year of 1947. 3) A total abstainer from tobacco to-bacco or alcoholic drinks. 4) At least 18 years old by November 1, 1946, and not more than 25 toy Nov. 1, 1947. 5) Single, not previously married, mar-ried, and must agree to remain single during the Centennial. 6) If a finalist, must be willing to submit to a general physical examination. 7) Must toe a bona fide resident resi-dent of Utah when application is made. time during the first week in December, De-cember, and the lucky girl will take over regal duties in the new year. The contest will be conducted throughout the state by Daughters Daugh-ters of Utah Pioneers for the Centennial, Commission. Under the organizational plan all instructions instruc-tions and application blanks have been turned over to the state organization or-ganization of the DUP to be distributed dis-tributed to the county organizations. organiza-tions. Aspirants for the honor may compete by obtaining entry blanks from the county organization of the DUP in their own counties and should not write either the State DUP or the State Centennial Commission. When filled, the blanks should be returned directly to the county DUP, since no contestant con-testant is eligible for the state finals fi-nals unless certified as winner in the county. |
