Jealousy, envy, revenge, superstition, despair, have so natural a lodgment in us that the image of them is discerned in the brute beasts; nay cruelty itself, a vice so much out of nature; for even in the midst of compassion no feel within us an unaccountable hirer-sweet tltil-latlon tltil-latlon of ill-natured pleasure in seeing another suffer ; and even ehiMron are sensible of it.
