Show 10 THE FARMERS AND BUSINESS MEN As a subscriber and reader of The Pyramid I take pleasure in having the privilege of expressing my thoughts through its columns along certain lines, believing that it may do some good. I have nolice'd for a number of years that we are loosing a good many of our people, who are leaving here and taking up their abode in other states. It is not a desirable thing for the community as it is some of our very best citizens who are leaving. It is about time that we all get to moving in the right direction direc-tion and keep these people here. This week a carload of hemeseek-ers hemeseek-ers are going to leave Sanpete county coun-ty to go to Idaho, looking for better opportunities than they have at present. pres-ent. This doesn't look very promising promis-ing for an old established community. A great mistake is being made as we have many opportunities right here at home, if they are properly developed, for all our people and more too. All of our bench land that lays round about can be made one of the grandest fruit districts of the West. We are becoming noted for our highly flavored fruits ah over the United States and our highly colored col-ored fruits cannot be excelled. I understand there is a movement on foot to build a large reservoir at 7 I the mouth of Cedar Creek, which if built will lurnish water for near'y half of this vast amount of unexcelled unexcell-ed fruit land. Businessmen with the right kind of push and foresight could get together to-gether jand help put this and other enterprises before the public in such a way that it would induce the farmer farm-er to change his ways. Invite peo- pie here and do all you can to make it desirable for them to remain with us. Help the other fellow to do and get started, and you will see that this is, and will be, one of the finest and grandest valleys in Sanpete County. 1 J. E. Gunderson |
