Show B Y C News The training school Is under way In tho new quarters at tho Preston block. Tho many students are very agreeably surprised to find the conveniences and pleasant features which are there. The west half of the lower floor is occupied oc-cupied by the lower grade under the supervision of Miss Peterson, and what will soon bo a small library for the students. An ofilec for the teachers will adjoin the library room. The upper floor has two class rooms with their tialnlng rooms and a convenient con-venient assembly room. Stairs lead to either the front or tho rear of tho bulldng and exits to these are made from, any room without Interfering with the work of the others. Water basins and closets are adjoining each room so there Is no need of leaving the building. Arrangements have lccn made to allow the tabernacle grounds to bo used for lccreatlon. Withal tho looms arc much better than those used before In the East building at tho college. Paint has mado them look better and alterations altera-tions hao glen better arrangements. The work being done Is excellent. Haskctw caving, carpetweavlnp and other manual work is can led on there In all the departments to such an extent that wonderful results have been achieved, llcforc tho close of school an exhibit Is to bo made of the work accomplished In tho different classes. The business department will be mocd to the East building cither tho latter part of this week oi tho Hist of next week. Prof. 1). C. Jensen spoke In the Third ward Sunday, Prof A. J. Ridges In Providence? and Prof. Chamberlain In tho Firth ward. A new dcpaiture In 'serving lunch by tho domestic department has been Inaugurated. There is one gii) who gets lunch for eight persons tho day assigned for her. She must dohcrown shopping planning and cooking and must prepare the meal so as not to cost more than 20c or $1.00 for the eight. Sho must also watt on tho table. Another ghl, though, acts as hostess. Anybody desiring to eat there may do so for the price, 20c. Miss Rose Homer Is at tho head of thlsdcpartmcnt. The carpentry department has progressed pro-gressed wonderfully this year. Practical Prac-tical work, such as tho building of those things used on the farm or around the house, Is taught. Those who should know say that the work Is llrst class. Tho Alumni number of the College Rullctln is out. It contains a copyright copy-right thesis by Ptof. Moslah Hall which was prepared by him on the occasion oc-casion of his taking the degree, Ph. M. In the university of Chicago. The college Is becoming known far and wide Into tho south from whence students camo this jear and many more preparing to come next year. Parents are show Ing much more Interest In-terest of lato in the work of the college. When the practical couises aro better under way there will be, undoubtedly, a much greater attendance attend-ance although at present the Institution Institu-tion is taxed to Its utmost to provide room for those it has. |
