Show A Pleasant Surprise. , H What was a most pleasant affair H and successful surprise on Prof, and JH Mrs. I. N. Smith was carried out by H Dr. and Mrs. Goodrich Thursday H evening at their delightful home on lH North 1st West. Prof, and Mrs. jH Smith were invited to tlie Goodrich H home to spend tho evening, and all IH unknown to them, a largo number of H their friends were also Invited, with H instructions to come early. When IH Prof, and Mrs. Smith arrived (a llttlo H late, Jast to be fashionable of course) iH Imagine tlie surprise that was theirs ' H to find a large circle of friends await- H ing their appearance. Mrs. Goodrich H presented tho late arrivals with a IH gift of magnificent flowers and there JH was tho slightest suspicion of a break- H down, but tho professor's calm dlsposi- H tlon saved the day. Rev. Clemcnson H gavo a toast, "Prof. Smith as I Knew H Illm," and that gentleman responded; H Mrs. Kecler and Miss Elliott sang, as !H did tho Rev. P. D. Stoops; Miss -i M Raymond and West Instrumcntallzcd, H and everybody played "flinch. " At ,H tho proper timo splendid refreshments H were served, and not .111 late did tho H guests feel Inclined to leave their IH pleasures and go home.
