Show Gunnison Valley In Grip of Storm King Mercury Drops to 12 Below Zero Following Fol-lowing Snowstorm of Last Sunday. Gunnison, since last Sunday even-1 ing and up to Wednesday morning j experienced some "real winter" weather. wea-ther. Following the snowstorm of j Sunday evening, at which time some six inches of the beautiful was spread over the valley and which means thousands of dollars to the farmers and stockgrowers of this section, the thermometer dropped to a point which gave the residents a touch of "real weather" and something that has not been experienced here for many years. When the populace arose Monday morning they faced weather that was variously estimated all the way from eight to twelve degrees below zero. Throughout Monday and Tuesday the elements continued to vent its feelings feel-ings and it was not until late Tuesday Tues-day that the change came and there-was there-was a noticeable moderation. Fortunately everybody was supplied sup-plied with plenty of coal and there was little or no suffering. The sudden sud-den and severe change had a tendency tend-ency to keep some of the smaller children from school for two days, but reports yesterday were that the attendance again was about normal. Manti and other points north suffered suf-fered more severely than did Gunnison Gunni-son and south points in the county. At Manti the thermometer registered register-ed 15 degrees below and at other cities and sections the mercury registered reg-istered smaller readings. |
