Show /port/ D4 MONDAY • JANUARY 22 • 2007 Wolverines walk past Longwood From MEN'S B-BALL-D1 the coaches ask, and sacrifice himself for the team more than Chris Bailey has this year. [He] brought a lot of energy and life to this game,11 Hunsaker said. Richard Troyer finished the game with 10 points and led all players in rebounds with five, a strong showing off of the bench for the junior forward. Matt Peterson added 11 points to round out those in double figures for the Wolverines. Joe Walker was a spark off of the bench as usual, swatting away three shots, making them look easy. He came away smiling and chuckling after one of his blocked shots, embarrassing the shooter. Led by Walker's three, the Wolverines frustrated the shots of the Lancers with a one-sided 11-2 block difference, while also out-rebounding the fellow Independent conference members 40-24. Coach Hunsaker noticed his team's governance of the glass, "We are making a more conscious effort to emphasize rebounding," he said. "Everybody involved contributed on the backboards tonight." Ten players for UVSC tallied double-digit minutes in the victory. Brett Ravenberg's two boards and his blocked shot were a boost, as was his overall fundamental play. Throughout the game, Longwood had costly turnovers, poor shot selection and sloppy play. Any glimpse of hope that the Lancers held was quickly dimmed by UVSC's play. The Lancers showed hesitation when an opportune shot came along, and their shooting percentage was evident of this fact. Ever)' time UVSC made a mistake, Longwood was unable to capitalize due to their lackadaisical, careless play. The Wolverines scored 20 points off of turnovers, and also had 14 second chance points. UVSC shot 64 percent in the second half, compared to the abysmal 35 percent performance by Longwood. UVSC's 28-point win was their biggest victory since this season's opening game against Montana State, a 32-point blowout at the McKay Center. They continue their winning ways with trips to the Dakotas this week. They play at South Dakota State on Thursday, and then make their way to North Dakota State on Saturday. Chad Clark/NetXNews Jordan Brady goes up for an easy dunk as a Longwood defender can only watch. Left Richard Troyer knocks the ball away.
