Show MARKET REPORT. Special to tho Garland Globus Kansas City Stock Yards, Dec. 24, 1000. Thero Is only a small run of cat. tlo hero today, nnd trado will naturally bo quiet all tho week. The market on killing stuff closed last week with a decline of 10 to 20 cents, but today tho situation is reversed, and buyers snapped up tho small supply eagerly at unevenly higher prices, usually putting back all of tho loss of last week. Blockers and feed-crs feed-crs havo been an exception, and retained all their strength last week, particularly dcslrablo cattlo. Tho yards were closely cleaned up at tho close of tho week, and tho small proportion of country cattlo aro idling at strong prices today . Colorado and the Southwest havo been lightly represented re-presented lately, but sulcs of shipments from those localities havo usually been at tho highest price of tho season in the last week. Colorado feeders sold at 3.80 to $4.80, stockers 8.80 to 14.20, beef steers ?3.85 to $4.40, with a few spayed heifers at 4 03, and some weighty beef steers at 4.85 to 15.00, cows 12.70 to $3.-25, $3.-25, calves 13.23 to S4.50, a fow veals around 0.00. Tho actlvo market today indicates a latent strength in tho situation situa-tion that may dcvclope considerable pro-portion, pro-portion, after tho first of tho year should receipts contlnuo moderate. 8heep and lamb supplies havo been small since tho mlddlo of last week, and tho market has been stronger. Run is oniy uuw today anil prices n shade higher, high-er, fed Western lambs selling at 7.00 to 7.45 today, yearlings worth 15.75 to 10.. 40, wethers 5.00 to J5.05, ewes 14.50 to 5.35. Receipts during December have been heavier than was expected, as feed crs wcro not expected to cut looso so early In tho season as somo of them havo. Tho market locally has been riiunlng slightly better than other points, aud whenever receipts are liberal buyers attempt at-tempt to get prices down to their proper level. This has resulted In two small breaks recently, but prices aro Immediately Immedi-ately restored when receipts drop oif. J. A. RICKART, L. S. Correspondent. |
