Show The entertainment given in Logan Theatre last Friday evening by the Tennessee Jubilee Singers was unique, highly pleasing, and illustrative of the religious sentiment and exercises, as well as of the social enjoyments of the negroes while in a state of slavery. The singing was very rich, sweet and melodious and many of the airs, while belonging to very different class of music from that usually heard at concerts, were very pleasing. The house was not large, but the performance delighted those who were present and many and hearty were the bursts of laughter created by Mr. Bell, the "shouting tenor." The concert was repeated on Saturday evening. |
