The mon who support the Liberty Loans, and the Victory Loan, also the Red Cross and othor great war activities, need exercise and amusement to ' keep them running at top speed in! the great gamo of business. Thc golfers of iho United States and Canada have given vast sum3 to the Red Cross; ambulances bearing the j names of clubs are in servico at homo and abroad, and golfers have not only given freely of their money, j but hnndreds of them havedled in 4 the armies of Great Britain1, Canada, France, and the United States. More than 3,500 golfers in Canada have gone overseas to fight, and more than 200 of th'em havo made the su-preme su-preme sacrifice. It may be news to some golfers that in British Columbia a golfer can pursue his favorite sport the whole year around. There ar.c no v-inter-killcd greens in Victoria or Vancouver. The Victoria Golf Club was established in 1893, and its seaside sea-side links at Oak Bay constitute one of the finest tests of golf in Canada. In addition to this course, Victoria has the Colwood Golf and Country Glub, one of the finest inland golf courses in America and the United Service Club, a very., good jdncjhqjg. course. Tho city of Vancouver is also a golf center with several clubs, notably the Shaughnessy Height3 Golf Club, an eighteen-hole courso well trapped and bunkered. This courso is named in honor of Lord Shaughnessy, President of tho Canadian Can-adian Pacific Railway, who is him- I self an ardent golfer. Other excel- j lent clubs at Vancouver arc the Jeri- ' cho Country Club and tho Vancouver I Golf and Country Club. There are scores of other splendid golf clubs in Canada, inclnding The Royal Montreal Golf Club, which was established in 1873, fifteen yearn before the 3t. Andrews Golf Club, Yonkers, N.
