Robert reports re-ports they got along fine, but were glad to get out before the snow buried, them. Wasn't that a honey of a snow storm we had? Wish we could get more just like it. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Holman and Mrs. Lillie Dawson went to Oak City, Friday night, to get Martha Dutson and daughter, Mildred. They had been visiting Martha's m.Kher, Mrs. Mary Finlinson. ' WEST DESERT ROUND-UP Some People Are i Misguided On Use Of Fertilizers According to scientists at Utah State University,, a problem has arisen in which some people will not accept the use of consumption crops if commercial fertilizer has been used. This has been brought to their attention by various food plant organizations, by organic farmers and by a series of individuals individ-uals who are either uninformed or misinformed. Plants do not use plant nutrients in the organic form as is a popular concept of a number of people. They may be applied in the organic form, but they are converted to the inorganic form "before a plant can use them. The plant cannot detect the difference between ni trogen coming from a compost heap and nitrogen being supplied by am monia nitrate. The inorganic form of fertilizer is generally supplied as commercial fertilizer ammonia sulphate, ammonia nitrate, or super-phosphate. Research has been done on a world-wide basis to study the ef feet of commercial fertilizers and their relationship to man and aiuV mals, and no evidence has ever been brought forth indicating that a detrimental effect cnu Via fmmH from the use of these products. All tne accounts against their use, from a health point of view, are completely com-pletely unfounded and are based euner on no inrormation or lack of information. In order to feed the world and the nation as is bein Hnno tnrlav it would be impossible to even remotely re-motely approach the production that is currently availa'hlA with nr. ganic fertilizers. It is completely necessary mat inorganic fertilizers be used. SHIRLEY ROBERTS It was beautiful Conference weather. wea-ther. The rain and snow was a God-send. Shirley Roberts spent the week at Lynndyl visiting Mable and Guy Sheriff and friends. Our cougar hunters stopped in at Callao to gas up before they left. They showed us a beautiful 9-foot pelt of a big torn. They dramatized the deadliness of the big cat's paw. They showed us the killer claws, (thumbs). They were two inches long. Another big cat got away from them. Dorcey Sabey took the road grader grad-er patrol in to Salt Lake City to have it over-hauled.
