Show All In Readiness For " School Opening Monday Next Monday will mark the (losing (los-ing of the long and joyous vacation enjoyed by the .school students of Gunnison Valley. With the sounding of tho bells and signals it will mean the starling of another year for the attainment and advancement of higher education and the moulding of boys and girls to fill the places of tomorrow. As usual elaborate plans have been completed at the various school buildings for the opening of .school. The paint, brush, ami flic broom, and other necessities for making the rooms inviting have been used extensively and when the crowds assemble for the fall and winter term they will be greeted with inviting places. While Monday is designated as the opening day, no real study will be inaugurated. Registration Reg-istration of the several students will occupy the morning hours and an intermission in-termission will be allowed during the afternoon while the books are being marked and allotted. Tuesday, however, how-ever, the registered students will bel gin real activities. At the high school, Principal Bardsley stated, a higher registration registra-tion is looked for. A large class graduated from the Washington school and practically all will enter as freshmen, and these, with the ; sophomores, will materially increase ' the attendance at the Gunnison "al- j ley high school. i Some important changes have been ' made and several hundreds of dollars dol-lars expended during the past few weeks in renovating the building. The room formerly used for the library, li-brary, will be the business office now, and the library will be placed in the office once used by the principal. prin-cipal. Approximately S400 in equipment equip-ment has been added to the chemis-1 try and physics department, which will mean much to the students in; carrying out experimental work.! Several new typewriters have been purchased and throughout numerous other changes have been made which I will make study more convenient and advantageous. The entire heating system has undergone un-dergone changes and a better service ser-vice from the fuel, at a reduction of, at least 25 per cent, will lesult. M; J Mercy Lundobcig, now touring wiiri the Jiabcock Players, will have charge of expression and English. Miss Lundberg is highly accomplished accomplish-ed and in her performances she has displayed exceptional talent in her ! chosen profession. Margaret Rnw-son, Rnw-son, in tharge of foods and English, and Rachel Churches, English an I textiles, among the new instructor, come wilh high recommendations also. In addition to Principal Bardsley Bards-ley and the three just mentioned, tre faculty of the Gunnison Valley h:gn will comprise I. L. Hcnrie, mechanics and agriculture; R. D. Madsen, mathematics anil science; H.arcM Biadley, music and athletics. While the school will open with the prospects of a very prosperous year, Principal Bardsley stated, much more can be accomplished with tiie full cooperation of the parents and citizens. Just criticism in the prr-motion prr-motion of higher education, will - asked and aid in making the Gunni- -son Valley high school foremost in its class, is certain to bring gratifying gratify-ing results. At the Washington public school, everything is in readiness for the reception of a large number of students stu-dents who are expected to re'risler next Monday. The old structure has been thoroughly cleansed and scrubbed. scrub-bed. The faculty fa-culty for the Washington this year will be as follows: Principal, J. E. Metcalf; seventh grade. Mrs. Charlotte Char-lotte Villard; sixth, A. Fredritkson; fifth, Mrs. Leslie Kidman; fourth, Miss Laura Ferre; third, Miss APa Peterson; second, Miss Turscl Childs; first, Miss Jacobson. Centerfield, Axtell, Clarion and Fayette schools will also open Men-day Men-day for the 1927-28 school term, with promises of a splendid year of education. |
