Cheesbourg, a member of the Champion 100 Mile An Hour Club, reserved for those drivers driv-ers who complete 500 miles without relief and at an average aver-age speed of 100 miles an hour, made a great showing at Indianapolis In-dianapolis in 1964 before a blown engine sidelined him late in the race. The n a t i onally acclaimed Champion Highway Safety Program Pro-gram will be presented at the Springville High School Nov. 14, by Indianapolis racing veteran vet-eran Bill Cheesbourg. Cheese-bourg, Cheese-bourg, whose appearance was arranged by A&I Supply Co., of this city, is a seven-jtime competitor in the Indianapolis 500 mile race. The program, now in its 12th year, has been presented to over ov-er ten million teen-agers throughout the U.S.A. and has brought numerous awards to its sponsor, Champion Spark Plug Company. Each of the eight driver-lecturers carries the same basic message to his audiences: One which draws comparisons between be-tween driving on the speedway versus the highway. "We emphasize the three main factors which account for the relatively safe driving conditions con-ditions on the track," says Cheesbourg. "These are mental alertness, courtesy to other drivers and the safe mechanical condition of the car. Calculated risk "The risk we take on the race track is a carefully calculated calcu-lated one." says the 18-year veteran of automobile racing.
