Show TELEGRAPHIO Impoverished Irish Immigrants Boston I5The steamer Nestoran arrived last night with 600 passenger moat of Impoverished Irishpeople sent over at the expense of the English government The greater part are families fam-ilies some of which number eight or ten persons while the average is about five The majority are from Qalwty the others from Mayo Derry and Donegal Most of those from Galway were evicted and during the past winter lived as best they could finding shelter in tents Indian In-dian meal porridge was their principal article of food An agent of government furnished money to those who desired too to-o to places beyond Boston the amount spending upon the size of the family some receiving a few shillings and others E2 E3 E5 er 6 A great many of the men are farmers but seem undecided what they shall do some going to New York end others to Pittsburg Portland Chicago and Canada while some remain in Boston and vicinity Several paid their own passage but brought little with them in the way of money or household goods to their various destinations The steamer Fatiltra from Liverpool which arrived this morning also brought a large number of the came class of immigrants immi-grants Philadelphia 15Sixtynine evicted farmers from Mayo and Walway arrived in tLe steamship Indiana Rev B S Kelly of Galway WAS also a passenger He has been sent to this country by the Irish Bishop of Tuam to raise money for the relief ot distress in his flock T |
