The place to practice your swing keys is on the range not the course. When you step on the course try to become more target orientated on every shot. The trick is to see the target as you walk up to the ball. Most golfers see the ball as they ap proach the shot and thus become disorientated with the target. To play good golf you have to get lost in the target in a subjective sense you have to let the target hit the shot for you. Racquet Club Now Has New Racquetball Pro Mark Cassady The seemingly simple technique and rules of racquetball are a major attraction at-traction of the fast paced game; so much so that many racquetball enthusiasts believe they will reach their peak without professional instruction. Such self taught players could gain a whole new insight to the game by-watching by-watching Mark Cassady, the Park City Racquet Club's new pro, paddle a lightning serve or backhand return. "The rules and basics of racquetball are easy to learn but most people would improve im-prove greatly with just a lit-Me lit-Me instruction," says i Cassady. "A lot of people have not seen really good racquetball so they are unaware of the dimensionsthe dimen-sionsthe intensity, court positioning, strategy the game can have." Cassady moved to Park City from Pennsylvania two weeks ago to lend a helping wrist to the Racquet Club's pro staff. His success in tournament play while on the Pennsylvania State University racquetball team earned him a very respectable respec-table tenth seeding in Eastern region play. It was on the unversity racquetball courts that Cassady met his wife. Donna, an accomplished accom-plished player in her own right and a member of the school's team. Having played the game for seven years, Cassady has had an opportunity to observe obser-ve a wide spectrum of opponents. op-ponents. Such experience has given him insight to common problems of the beginner and the secrets of pros. "The toughest part of teaching strokes is getting people to break the stiff wrist habit learned in tennis,'1 ten-nis,'1 says Cassady. "The power in raquetball comes from the forearm and wrist, especially snapping the wrist." What techniques distinguish the hot players? According to Cassady a lot depends on learning court positioning: don't plant yourself, and learn to watch your opponent as much as the ball since an opponent's position will reveal the probable path of his return and where your counter should be directed. With Cassady serving as instructor, the members of the Racquet Club can expect to see, and play, more ex citing racquetball.
