Show TO EXTEND SCOPE Of I . MUSIC IN U. S. ARMY According to a bulletin received today to-day by Serg. E. a. Stumpf of the Og-den Og-den army recruiting station, Prof. John P. Marshall, of Boston university, universi-ty, has been appointed by the general siafr development expert" in music for tho army. Music has been added to the list of subjects included in the program pro-gram of the education and recreation branch, war plans division, general : starf, and instruction will be provided , at all army camps and posts for men who desire to study band and orches- ' ii. ii limn uuiuiii5, ana sucn outer branches or music as are found' practicable. practi-cable. During the summer. Professor Marshall will arrange courses of study and will begin work in tho camps November 1st. He will organize a corps or leachers who will include officers of-ficers and band leaders already in the service, and civilians whore no ofricers or band leaders are available. This gives to all young men who wish to learn any kind or music a very good opportunity to become firstclass musicians In the army and arter their enlistment in civil lire. Enlistments and rc-cnlistmcnts fori one year periods are now authorized for the coast artillery corps for ser-' vice within Ihc continental limits of( the United States.
