Show CEDAR CITY SOCIAL SWING Mrs. Nola Kupfer Announcing the arrival of their third son are Mr. and Mrs. Kerry Ker-ry Ruesh of Las Vegas, Nevada. Mrs. Ruesh is the former Karen Slack, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Slack. Mrs. Slack traveled tra-veled to Las Vegas to assist her daughter for ten days. Mrs. Joe Bennett Mrs. Reed Leigh and Mrs. Wes Mullett joined join-ed ten of their lady friends from St. George for a two day stay in Las Vegas. Leaving on Thursday the ladies were entertained by three former friends. Luncheons, bridge parties and good visiting filled the time and made for a most pleasant stay. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Bishop of Delta are visitors in Cedar City. They are dividing their time between be-tween the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Richard May and Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Stephenson. On Sunday the visitors enjoyed a trip to the Glen Canyon dam site. They joined Mr. and Mrs. Stephenson for the pleasant day. Stitching and Sewing was the evening's activity as Mrs. James Sandberg entertained 16 members mem-bers of the 1150 Neighborhood Club. Mrs. Evelyn Osberg was welcomed as a new member and former members, Mrs. Anna La-gerberg La-gerberg and Mrs. Mary Ellen Harter, enjoyed the evening with their former neighbors. A delightful afternoon of Greek culture was in store for the ladies lad-ies of Wei Ak Avis as they enjoyed en-joyed the hospitality of their gracious gra-cious hostess, Mrs. L. C. Miles. During the afternoon, Mrs. La-nell La-nell Lunt and Mrs. M. A. Cowley continued the studies of the club by presenting information on 'The Civilization of Greece, Its Religion and Philosophy". Mrs. Lunt read excerpts from 'The Greek Way" and "The Echo of Greece" by Edith Hamilton as she emphasized the great" part played by the Greek nation in founding the first self-government, an example for our demo-1 cracy of today. Mrs. Cowley added interest to the lession by displaying pamphlets pam-phlets and pictures obtained from the' Greek Embassy irr Washington D. C. A delightful luncheon completed complet-ed the afternoon filled with interesting in-teresting and worthwhile information. infor-mation. Hostess for the Friday meeting meet-ing of the Ami Fidel club was Mrs. Nettie Marris. The ladies enjoyed having Mrs. Ellen Simkins read a variety var-iety of interesting excerpts from current magazines. The read ings proved to be both informative informa-tive and entertaining. As refreshments were served business matters were discussed and visiting enjoyed. |
