This contest, which closes j February 28, 1929, has special appeal to farmers and rural families throughout the country because of the practical knowledge which they posess concerning poultry raising. This is one ' contest in which the farmer or members of his family has a dist'net advantage over city dwellers. dwell-ers. Farm folks are acquainted with the problems presented by chickens, and therefore, stand a better chance of winning one of the big prizes than someone who is not familiar with poultry . For this reason, it is altogether alto-gether likely that farmers and members mem-bers of farmers families will carry off most of the big prizes in the contest. con-test. Literary ability is to count for little lit-tle in the contest, the committee in charge has announced. The committee commit-tee is interested in obtaining ideas, and it is on the bas:s (jtf ideas, rather than excellent composition that prizes priz-es are to be awarded. Rules are simple. Anyone is eligible eli-gible to submit a letter or essay except ex-cept hatchery operators or employees of hatcheries and their families. Letters Let-ters must not exceed 500 words in length. The r.ame and address must appear on the upper left hand corner i of each sheet of paper used. Letters I must be mailed to Contest Editor, Campaign Headquarters, 705 Third National Building, Dayton, Ohio, on or before February 20, 1929. First prize in the contest is $5,000 and a check for this amount will be presented to the person whose letter let-ter selected as the best by the committee com-mittee of judges. Second prize is $2,000 and third prize, $1,000. Other prizes are as follows: Fourth $500; I fifth, $250; sixth, $125; next ten prz-; prz-; es $50; next twenty-five prizes, $25. |
