Show THE ROAD TO PEACE the road to peace is a long and hard one to travel beset with heartache and the loss of too many of our fine young men and the permanent disability of many others as we are having brought home to us more definitely with each passing week additional word of war casualties as they mount ever higher and as the dreaded word sent out by the war department reaches more homes throughout the country in speaking of war it was tolstoi who said no matter how great the slaughter may be and how it may end the condition will remain the same even so and with greater tension will the governments of the future arm and destroy you and corrupt yoland you and your children and your childrens children and no one will help you stop it all if you are not going to help yourselves there is truth in the above statement although tolstoi I 1 offer any solution to the problem in the final sentence nor can there be any permanent peace while the I 1 it condition remains the same whereby treaties are made which more often than not prove to be but scraps of paper in the final analysis they are ane prepared by leaders and representatives of the countries which are considered to be the victors but who cannot seem to come to any agreement I 1 other than the temporary settlement of boundary lines and other points that may satisfy the military powers we are watching with interest the outcome of the present conference among the so called big three and their I 1 retinue of advisors who are supposed to have facts and figures I 1 pertaining to future settlements desired by their respective spec tive countries and their own departments of service we believe that no matter what may be revealed for public information that may seem to be satisfactory in so far as our own country and the british empire are concerned the I 1 full story will not be told to the american people just as so much of the truth is withheld in regard to our losses in all theatres theartres the atres of war our military and other wartime leaders are doing a fine job in accord with their respective positions and they are succeeding in subduing the enemy in keeping with the principles 1 of warfare and obligations they must fulfill in order to defend our rights and gain what will be called peace ere long we are now being told that even though germany may collapse soon the war with japan must and will continue for long period of time and that the fighting will go on and on in the so called it second phase of war with that country so will the condition remain the same and 94 greater tension prevail with even greater uncertainty within our own country until the end of this old order of I 1 living which must and will come soon in spite of what some folks think or say to the contrary because the people of america are becoming aware of the need to study the precepts of divine law and to turn to their bibles f for or a better understanding of what is written therein there is hope that ere long the they y will do something about it and because there is so much available information and interpretation of hitherto little understood chapters which relate to the times we are now in is there hope for the f future generation and for many of us who will have to take part in the reconstruction period so close upon us but in the meanwhile we in america will have much to contend with as we move forward on the road to peace we must be patient with things that are not to our liking in regard to restrictions and the enforcement of laws which will demand even greater sacrifices than are now no w in in evidence evi all the while knowing that what we are going thru is but the fulfillment of prophecy as foretold throb throughout ghost the ages in the one book and through many other sources of information and predictions we must also learn the hard way man many y things that are necessary to our future well being if we are to resolve into a nation of peace loving people living in accord with divine law which is so very different from what the average person wants to do now so will the road to peace lead to something better and finer than that which is now being planned by those who are trying to work out olit a plan of operation and settlement based on the same old principle of living in accord with with mans way of life and the settlement of boundary lines and the conduct of the people who live therein we are indeed living in momentous times a transition period which only a few as compared to the many are aware of |
