Show boy scout banquet outstanding affair boy scout week was observed an in monticello and blanding w with it h the usual appropriate programs preceded in each case with a fine 1 banquet word from blanding states that I 1 on thursday night of last week 1161 shouters scouts and parents I 1 were ser served ved at beautifully decorated tables that the was delicious and everyone had I a grand time the program which followed the dinner included music I 1 by harvey kartchner kart prayer bashop B shop rogers presentation of the colors bill shepherd geo hurst acted as toastmaster Ap appreciation was expressed to mr biggs bigg scout smothers mothers home heine EC girls and all who helped more music and I 1 closing prayer by guy R hurst after the banquet a court of honor was held at which time badges and special awards were presented to deserving scouts photos of boys who are now known as casualties were flash flashed on a screen by mr biggs while w h i I 1 e phil hurst paid tribute to each one and to their mothers on saturday the annual scout banquet was held in monticello fr far scouts and their guests some of whom came from blanding by special invitation among this number were phil hurst vet bradford and ash harris all of whom spoke during the program which followed the dinner wilford frost was toastmaster and introduced the speakers who in in addition to those named included forest ranger julian thomas A J redd karl lyman george palmer mrs rita bailey ted edwards and grace whipple the last two named being monticello school students following the program scout master melvin frost held the customary court of honor and presented badges and other awards to a number of scouts who had earned them dancing followed to the music of the evans orchestra mrs hugh edwards was general chairman and mrs bert warren served as secretary treasurer mrs wilford frost and her assistants prepared the tables and attractive place cards and helen redd was in charge of serving the guests with her corps of assistants mrs flora nielson had charge of the program scout mothers prepared and served the fine dinner and although they worked behind the scenes their work was most important and much appreciated |
