Show M ean note the following letter received last week from mrs winter will be of interest to friends of her son fritz and likely to the old settler too whose weekly column is evidently enjoyed by the boys buddies of fritz who read the san juan record dear mrs ogden I 1 am writing you to see if you know anybody that has the book of the old settler my son fritz who is overseas wrote and asked for it he is getting his paper quite regularly now and says all the boys love to read the san juan record especially the old settler he said to give you his best regards I 1 received a clipping f from om one of his former camps in the states telling me how brave fritz was it seems that he and three other boys were ordered to load their trucks with wire and get them to the front as soon as possible which they did it said they were within yards of the front lines with shells dropping all around them but they made it each boy made it back to camp with his truck still under him the only 0 n I 1 y damage was a lot of sarali shrapnel ne 1 marks on the trucks and fritzs truck had a big hole in one side of the cab I 1 think they were lucky dont you if you know of anyone who has that book and I 1 can get it will you please let me know thanking you yours truly edith winters |
