Show ; The Next Five Months Are Pneumonia Season in the United States By HUGH S. CUMMINQ, D. S. Surgeon General. The next five months are the pneumonia season. Here are some of the precautions the citizen should take to avoid contracting the disease: Avoid needless crowding, walking to work if one has time is better than riding. . Stay in the open air and in the sunshine as much as possible, but do not get chilled. Breathe fresh air. Breathe through the nose. Avoid all poorly ventilated, overheated places to which it is unnecessary to go. Keep the windows of your sleeping room open. Keep the windows of the ' room iu which you work open. For people who are well the best temperature in the winter is about 68 degrees during the day. After one goes to bed the temperature may be allowed to drop to 55 or even to 50 degrees. Use plenty of covering to keep warm while you sleep. Keep the feet dry and warm. Avoid persons who are coughing and sneezing. Avoid late hours, overeating, chilling of the body and overheated rooms. |
