Backpacking is but one of many ways of filling a summer with recreation and fitness-oriente- d activities. This years Fitness and Recreation section contains a smattering of information about bettering personal health and getting started in leisure activities that vary from mainstream interests 't I such as golf or horseriding to sports like windsurfing. There are reports on two new rapidly expanding entrants on the fitness scene low impact aerobics and striding (which translates to walking). Also included is an examination of less-travel- the relationhsip between aerobic and anaerobic exercise. The section rounds out by featuring articles on the basics of backpacking, one local citys physical fitness program, useful dieting information, and a guide on what to look for m picking a family ski boat. 1C |
