IN GORGIA G ORGIA polk county georgia may 28 1898 1899 the past winter we have been laboring in colleton county south carolina the county was ecclesiastically divided into two sections elders morris wilson and george A day labored in west colleton Ool leton and elder john marun martin and myself labored in past east colleton each bach pair of elders m met et with great success those in W west eat colleton me made hosts of dear friends and many investigators they had the privilege of baptizing nineteen honest souls into thebold the fold of christ we in fast east colleton likewise made many friends who arlever are ever willing to lend a helping hand for the spread of truth and were honored of the lord to baptize nine of his scattered sheep about the of march son and myself were surprised by receiving a letter from pros pres elias S kimball informing us that we were to take our journey to polk county georgia which was waa to be our new field of labor according to instructions instruction eve we met on the coast near charleston and held a two days fast before starting after visiting the saints and friends of that section we began our journey on the 3rd ard of april for our new field of labor As we passed through oar old fields we called on friends and saints sainta to bid them good bye they had treated us so kindly in days gone by it seemed like bidding home folks folka adieu when we arrived in alamil county south carolina we met pres pre S P oldham who presides over the south carolina conference and elders geo D reeder henry behrmann Behr roann and geo A day with whom we held ft branch conference we had an enjoyable meeting with the saints and friends of that section the time spent with them was an enjoyable one but the parting was sad from aiken we went to augusta ga where we stopped over awl and part of a day we viewed the city then struck into a land unknown to either of us but knowing the lord would airo 10 0 vide we continued on our way trusting in him we saw the power of the lord made manifest in raising up friends to care for us all the way across the state as we always stopped where the tables wore were spread with tho the luxuries of life and our rooms were fitted to give pleasant rest to the weary body after a long and fatiguing jolof ney of over five hundred milea we landed in our field of labor we were tired in body but it having been some time since we were biere actively engaged in teaching the gospel we proceeded at once to work the first place we canvassed they informed us that elders had stopped there years ago they then invited us in and we were made comfortable and for the first time we were mado made to rejoice by being welcomed to partake of the delicacies found on the table of a kind friend and AL well todo to do farmer of polk county since then we have been laboring among the people of Sp ringdale van wert rockmart Rock mart grady and VM creek we have met many who hove merw acquainted with the elders who traveled here years ago and man many who have friends and relatives lv in should there be any one in the wert who have friends in this thas county it taley atey will send us their names anti and addresses addre saes we would woud I 1 be pleased to call cal lupon them we have many friends in this who are ever willing to lend a hand for the spread of truth aw and been feeding on taw 1 berries and cream of late wo we are am ever t thankful to our maker for the these ings we are your brethren in tee cause bause of truth MORRIS WIL L U daw Z
