| Show A IN GEORGIA milton county ga may 11 1898 ott 00 the th ath dav of october 1896 1 left vay my home at salt take lake city utah ta fill a mission in the southern states arriving at chattanooga tenn I 1 was 14 appointed to labor in the then west wept Vir virginia ilnia conference but it was afterwards called east bast kentucky conference during the seventeen months I 1 labored in east bast kentucky my work con alsted in canvassing up till decem i her ber 1897 when I 1 was appointed to assist elder george A lyman in the sabbath bath school work while engaged bi this interesting work I 1 received word from the president of the conference informing me that myself and ape bildat ta J at 1 N coopes had been chosen to 6 go 6 0 to the state of georgia and help open a newfield new field of labor there af 4 te oM bidding idding our many friends goodbye good bye and d leaving t them row kith with tears in their aree we loft left rowan n county counter ky on ie let jet of otMa reh il 1 on iti our way to the jnnny anzy couro souro SOtt ln we A traveled on foot I 1 a wire were empty and we t MV ling with without t purse or scrip at it was a adulte an ing but we knew that the lord was on our side and consequently had no fears I 1 will not go into details but suffice it to say that after a hard journey of miles on foot with an elverage average of about 12 3 meals a day we arrived at alpharetta milton county gaon the ath of abill very much fatigued As a rule the elders in writing to the news only give the honey side of their experiences and never any of the sour part of it but we give you both on our arrival at alpharetta Alp baretta we got permission from the mayor to tract the town and from the ordinary we got leave to use the court house to preach in without trouble we thought everything was going to go fine but atter after our meeting the first night all the crowd went away and left us in the court house to spend the night we had a few wax bandl ts is which w v burned all night and put in the whole night writ itar narl we were treated this way the second night after holdin meeting three ihme wc went nt into the country where we got a good opening and have been having a good time ever since the people of alpharetta are beginning to feel ashamed of themselves and we are making more friends every day the way 1 ia opening up fine for us cowand my is s chrt r gigli will be a fine field and there Is going to be a great work done in this state in the future the people are kind and hospitable and seem to be earnest in their religious efforts if anybody having friends in these parts will send us addresses we will be pleased to call on them we feel grateful for the privilege of having the honor of helping to over open a clid in this state and mikla mik lp the trip gnp from kentucky to georgia without purse or scrip we send greeting to all the saints and friends in zion and pray the blessings of god upon them and all who are engaged in the great work of the lord respectfully A P KIMBALL J N |
