Vera was born to Roy Robertson and Eleanor Bowen Creer on Oct. 5, 1912 in Leland, a small farming community southwest of Spanish Fork. She was the fourth of nine children. She graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1930 and met Don Whimpey while he was working at the Sugar Factory in Spanish Fork. They were married Oct. 30, 1931. They settled in Lehi where she has made her home since, with the exception of several years in the early 1960s when she and husband, Don, moved to Provo Canyon.
