Show Obituaries Pleasant to Grove David Owen and Hannah Jane Bullock Halliday. He was an active member of the L . D . S . church. He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School and L.D.S. Seminary. After high school he joined the National Guard of Utah and served with them from 1935 to 1939. He then served in the United States Army in the On Aug. 23, 1950 he married Jean Evans in the Logan L.D.S. Temple. He worked for Wasatch Southern Gasoline Company and Phillips 66 Gasoline Company, transporting gasoline products, for over 30 years and later attended Utah Barber College and enjoyed a barbering career for more than 30 years. He is survived by his wife Jean of 47 years, a son Glen, Los Angeles. A brother, Blaine Halliday, Green Valley, Ariz.; a sister, Rhea Robinson, Tucson, Ariz., and many loving nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, a sister, Ella Jackson and a brother, Reed Halliday. Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 4 in the Cottonwood Heights 5th Ward, Salt Lake City. Interment was in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery under the direction of Olpin Family Mortuary, Pleasant Grove. Asiatic Pacific Campaign during World War II from 1945 until 1946. He married Lyle Hooley, later divorced. He married Bessie Nielsen who died in 1948. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple. Marvon D. Holdavvay Marvon Duane Holdaway, 64, of Pleasant Grove passed away Thursday, Oct. 2, 1997. He was born April 4, 1933 in Salt Lake City to Hugh VonLoy and Margaretm Y o c o ? Holdaway. j He married Colleen Randall of Pleasant Grove. She passed away December 6, 1970. He later married Alice Palmer February 17, 1973 in Reno, Nevada. He was the was youngest of four children John of Everett and Ethel May Hilton West, born July 1, 1919 in member of the LDS church. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed camping and fishing with his family. He is survived by his wife Alice of Pleasant Grove, five sons and two daughters: Marvon (Ilene) Holdaway, Duane Holdaway, Craig (Mary Jo) Nielsen, Stephen (Jackie) (Julie) Holdaway, Randy Janet (Paul) Holdaway, Anderson, Brenda Wiseman, 24 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Additional survivors include his mother Margaret Holdaway of Orem; three brothers and one sister: Robert Maureen Brown, Donald Holdaway, and Dennis Holdaway. Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 6, in the Olpin Chapel, Family Mortuary Pleasant Grove. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove City missions. They served at the Hawaii Temple Visitors Center from 1986 to 1987 and at the Historic Liberty Jail Visitors Center from 1992 to 1994. Everett served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines during World War II. He was always active in sports and played bas- ketball, tennis, racquetball and golf. He is survived by his wife, Pleasant Grove. He married Betty West on May 2, 1941 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They are the parents of six children. He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School and attended BYU and LDS Business College. He retired as the District Claim Agent for the D&RGW Railroad after working there for 38 years. In served in the community in various capacities. He served in many positions in the LDS Church, including bishop, high counselor, stake president and stake mission president. Everett and his wonderful Holdaway, an accomplished welder and retired from Geneva Steel after 35 years of service. He was a skilled metal art craftsman and traveled to various fairs and arts festival to display his work. He was a John Everett West passed away peacefully on Sept. 29, 1997 as a result of pulmonary fibrosis. He wife, Betty, served two full-tim- Betty; six children: Paul West, (Colleen) Carolyn (Wallace) Allred, John E. West, III, Nancy (Butch) Riggs, Gary (Carol) West and Alan (Julene) West; 30 grandchildren; 10 Also his sister, Gwyn Larson, and brother, Dale (Mariam) West, and many loving nieces and nephews. Dad left a legacy of faith for his children. He was caring, compassionate and tireless in serving others. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, son and friend. Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 3, in the Winder Stake Center. Burial was in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. n.
