J Grant 1 y East South Te Temple at tho the a age e of oC 79 71 years year She was one of tho pioneers pio pio pio- peers of the Mormon church in ha having be been n affiliated with that faith for soy sev four erity-four years rear Mrs Winters was born at nt Bethel Maine April 6 G 1833 Her lIer mother joined the Mormon church when Mrs Winters was G years old and Mrs Winters Win Win- fers was reared in that faith The mother and daughter following the death of the father moved to Kirtland Ohio ii in ill 1838 and th the moth mother r met ana and married Parley P. P Pratt The mother and daughter accompanied Mr Pratt on hi his historic trip to En England where ho he was sent scot with Witford Woodruff by Joseph Smith tho prophet to assist Heber C. C Kimball and Brigham Young in n opening the Mormon mission in the British isles Tho The family returned to Kirtland and endured the troublous event R that led ledo to o the mi migration to l j Missouri SO lri and then theno to o Illinois She wa was at Nauvoo when Joseph Smith t and his brother were cre killed tilled and became a a. re refugee u ee with others other at Winter Quarters The terrible trip across the plains was filled with romance for tho the young girl irl for or on this journey she sho met Oscar Oscur Winters Win- Win tom ers They od loved and were married by br Pre President Snow who mot met the tho train trait while ho was wat on hi his way to r Europe Ho lie paused just long enough h on his biB journey to perform p this ceremony and then continued continued con con- tinned eastward The Tho bride and bridegroom camo to this valley and then at the invitation of President Brigham Youn Young tho they went to o Pleasant Grove Groe to aid in founding that settlement They Thoy lived there therea until untila a few years oars ago when upon the death of ot Mr Winters his widow came to this cit city to make her ber homo home with her dau daugh daugh- h. h ter There are four in living sons and dau daugh daugh- b- b tore They arc are Mrs Heber J.
