Show UTAH IS THIRD IN NATION FOR RURAL ELECTRIFICATION Utah continues to be one of the nation's top-ranking states in farm electrification, according to Edison Electric Institute's T939 annual report received today by the Utah Power & Light company. com-pany. The report, as of January 1, 1940, places the Beehive state third with 91.4 per cent of Utah's farms, on which are dwellings valued over $500, receiving electric elec-tric service. California again takes tak-es number one spot with tiny Rhode Island second. Other ranking rank-ing states are: New Jersey, fourth; Washington, fifth; Idaho, sixth; Michigan, seventh; Connecticut, Con-necticut, eighth; Oregon, ninth and Massachusetts, tenth. Mr. George H. Bihler, Bingham Division manager of the Power company, said enterprise of Utah farmers, cheap, reliable electric service and a fine spirit of cooperation co-operation between agriculturists and the company during the past 27 years, were responsible for Utah's high place among the 48 states. He explained in the territory served by the Utah Power's interconnected in-terconnected system the percentage percent-age of farms receiving electric service was even higher than the figure given for the entire state. |
