Thank you Weber County for selecting Ogden Valley Pathways to benefit from the first distribution of Ramp Grant funds! Ogden Valley Pathways and the National Forest Service received a joint grant fro the Ramp Foundation in the amount of $143,000. The 2006 portion of the grant proposal will be used to complete two sections of the 7.69 mile Eden to Huntsville trail (See Section 2 and 7 on map), and to improve the Forest Service Beach accesses at Old High Spring Creek. tion, two exciting projects, a native plant restoration workshop and an easy to use pathway exercise program, will be developed this summer as part of the Ramp grant. The non-motorized pathway is divided into seven sections. Section 1, the Parson’s Eden Pathway, is a 2.4 mile paved pathway completed in 2005. Section 2 is a 0.4 mile paved pathway that will connect the Parson’s Trail at the intersection of the Eden Park with Old Highway Beach. Section 3 is a 0.5 mile stretch of paved pathway that will connect Old Highway to String Town Road (5900 East). Section 4 consists of a 0.7 mile paved pathway of elevated boardwalk with railings and timber bridges from String Town Road to the eastern boundary of Geerstsen Ba Section 5 is a 1.2 mile length of paved pathway, and an additional 1,995 feet (0.38 mile) of boardwalk that will connect Geertsen Bay to Middle Inlet. Middle Inlet to Spring Creek—including Quist Beach Section 7 is a 1.0 mile of paved pathway that will connect Spring Creek to the Huntsville-Monte Cristo Highway intersection—a major gateway to the Valley’s Ogden Valley Pathways Master Plan ( adopted in 2002) is similar to a wheel with an inner hub that circles the reservoir, and an outer rim of high mountain trails. The paved inner hub of the trail system is designed to provide a safe place for a variety of trail users—including large portions of accessible to people with disabilities. Enhancements to the Forest Service Beach accesses will include interpretive historical and wildlife signage, picnic tables, bike racks, benches, and other improvements. The cost for this entire inner hub may total over one million dollars, and will take several years to complete. Ogden Valley Pathways will continue to apply for grants and enlist financial support from Valley residents.
